How autism funding works in Maryland
Maryland's Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) supports autistic adults through several waivers: the comprehensive Community Pathways waiver, the lighter-touch Community Supports waiver, and the Family Supports waiver. The state's separate Autism Waiver serves children and youth up to age 21.
A Coordination of Community Services (CCS) agency helps you navigate the DDA application and build a person-centered plan, which is especially valuable at the school-to-adulthood transition. Because several DDA supports focus on independent community living, it is worth asking your coordinator whether life coaching fits your plan. Coaching is available virtually across the state.
