How autism funding works in Florida
Florida's services for people with developmental disabilities are administered by the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) through the iBudget Florida Medicaid waiver. Eligibility requires a qualifying developmental disability, including severe autism, with onset before age 18, and applications go to your regional APD office.
Because demand exceeds funding, many Floridians spend time on a waitlist organized by priority need, and the Individual and Family Supports program can provide limited help in the meantime. Programs like ABLE United also let individuals save without risking benefits. While you navigate the system, virtual coaching is available across the state.
